Mu’azu’s seat under threat as PDP Governors, Tukur seek his removal

For allegedly tampering with the delegates’ lists submitted from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, congress elections held in some states last month, governors of those states who are angling for absolute control of the party structures are believed to have perfected plans to oust the PDP national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.

Similarly, immediate past national chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who resigned in January this year, is warming up to return to Wadata Plaza, as he is reported to have briefed his lawyers to challenge his resignation as the national chairman of the ruling PDP, claiming that he did not resign properly as the national chairman of the party.

After collecting their N24m, PDP rejects two presidential aspirants

A fresh crisis is brewing in the Peoples Democratic Party over the insistence of some of its members to contest its presidential primary with President Goodluck Jonathan.

But the national leadership of the party has refused to sell its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms to two other presidential aspirants.

Two of the aspirants, Dr. Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa and Prof. Akasoba Duke-Abiola, were at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on Tuesday to purchase the forms, but they were turned back.

There are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress governors may produce the party’s vice-presidential candidate for the 2015 election.

Saturday PUNCH’s investigations on Thursday in Abuja showed that the governors were demanding that one of them should be given the party’s vice-presidential slot.

It was reliably gathered that their demand was premised on the indication that a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) or ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar might get the presidential ticket.
