APC INAUGURATES APPEAL COMMITTEES

Chief Akande

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated Congress Appeal Committees to look into grievances that may arise from the states, local government and ward congresses conducted by the party before its National Convention.
Interim national secretary of the party, Tijjani Musa Tumsah, who spoke with Daily Trust yesterday,  said the committees were inaugurated for all the 36 states of the federation including Abuja.
He said that the committees were inaugurated for 24 states earlier because of some unresolved issues arising from the congresses held in the remaining 12, but it was later decided that all the committees for all the states should be inaugurated as most of the issues are being resolved in the affected states.

“The committees have all been inaugurated and they will all report and start work immediately tommorow (Tuesday) after the Easter break and the state congresses will be conducted soon, which means that we are gradually moving towards our National Convention and we hope to be there peacefully despite the series of drawbacks we had in the congresses,” he added.
He stressed that the appeal committees were mandated to address all issues concerning the congresses in the states.
He said each state will have a committee to undertake the task independently and report to the party’s national secretariat.
A source at the party’s secretariat informed Daily Trust that each state appeal committee consists of a Chairman, Secretary and a member. He added that all decisions taken by the committee must be endorsed by the three members of the committee.
He however said, they can only decide on issues concerning wards and local government congresses and send recommendation on all matters concerning states congresses to the national secretariat where it will be decided by a higher committee.
